Moon Zero Two

1969       Catherina Von Schell

In the year 2021, fifty-two years after man first stepped on the Moon, a thriving community of human beings has been established in Moon City. Space hero, Bill Kemp (JAMES OLSON), the first man to set foot on Mars, and his friend Karminski (ORI LEVY) now pilot Kemp's own 'freelance' Moonship called "Moon .02". Rather than work as regular pilots on the space routes between Earth and the Moon, the two friends make emergency trips of all kinds. Upon arriving at the Space Center, Kemp is met by pretty Clementine Taplin (CATHERINA VON SCHELL), who is concerned about her brother,

Wally, missing from a mining trip on the Farside of the Moon. Not knowing Wally, Kemp is unable to help. He pays a visit to his girl-friend, Elizabeth Murphy (ADRIENNE CORRI), a Moon Bureau investigator. She tells him that unless he either gets a new space-ship or overhauls his present one, she will have to ground him. Wealthy magnate J. J. Hubbard (WARREN MITCHELL) offers Kemp a new spacecraft if he will consent

to harness a 6,000 ton asteroid made of sapphire and attach it to a deserted part of the Moon, where Hubbard can use it for his own plans in gaining control of much of the Universe. Kemp agrees with some misgivings. Kemp agrees to fly Clementine to the Farside, where they discover her dead brother's body.

Clem and Kemp are attacked by three men whom Kemp kills during a fierce fight. With their own Moon Bug damaged by the attackers, Kemp and Clem take the victim's Moon Bug and return to the Base where Liz Murphy arrests Kemp. Then Hubbard and two of his men, Whitsun (DUDLEY FOSTER) and Harry (BERNARD BRESSLAW), enter. In an ensuing fight, Liz is shot. Hubbard threatens to kill Clem unless Kemp takes the party out to the sapphire asteroid to carry out the final stage of the plan for transporting it to the Farside. Kemp learns that they killed Wally and took over Wally's claim in order to have a spot to land the valuable asteroid.

Kemp, Karminski and Clem manage to turn the tables on Hubbard and his henchmen in subsequent dramatic events. Harry is shot and Hubbard and Whitsun ale spun off through space attached to the asteroid. They die when it lands on the Moon. Clem now legally owns the priceless sapphire and she, Kómp and Karminski set course. for Moon City with their troubles behind them.
