Tuck Me In

1970       Kim Pope

Teaser Storyline for Tuck Me In

Tracy Middleton is just the average young hopeful actress. Sharing a pad with a girl friend in the village ... taking acting lessons ... auditioning ... fending off passes from lecherous managers. Average. Except that Rod Middleton, her father, is one of the biggest box-office attractions.

Determined not to trade on her father's name, Tracy goes her own way. Until. . . well, what with one thing and another, she figures it is high time to use daddy's name o . . "it's the only thing he ever gave me."

So Tracy calls on Alex Menninger, one of her father's oldest friends and his long-time producer. But Alex doesn't see Tracy as woman enough for a particular role ... until Tracy proves her point. She's woman enough... and she gets the part.

Daddy comes to town. Hoping to surprise Tracy, he goes to her apartment to wait for her. Surprise her he does. Tracy comes in to find him in bed with her roommate.

But that's alright with Tracy. She'll take daddy any way she can get him. She joins the couple in the bed, throwing her arms around daddy's neck.

Tracy is a success in her first Broadway role, and teams with Rod in Hollywood to make a series of very successful films. She is chosen to represent the U.S. at the film festivals in Italy. In the meantime, back in N.Y. after a couple of years, Rod runs into the roommate. A whirlwind romance, in and out of the backseat of Rod's limousine and, surprisingly enough. . . marriage.

Tracy returns from Rome, already shaken by her experiences there, to confront her ex-roommate as her stepmother. Rod leaves for a personal appearance, and the two girls, alone in the bedroom of the luxury suite, begin to talk. Then, in VIVID COLOR, we see just what did happen to Tracy in Rome. The freaks, the orgies, the strange rites, the unpublished practices of the anything-goes cult. And we find out just exactly how Tracy really did come into possession of the gun she now carries constantly. Another film with Rod. A final scene. . . a death scene. . . seemingly, another success. Tracy receives the applause of the cast and crew.

And then. . . death for real. Rod, overtired; is stricken by a heart attack and dies. Tracy, faced with losing her father again, goes into shock. She wanders around the village she once knew so well, but where she is now a stranger. Picked up by a middle-aged couple, Tracy is taken back to their place. She is stripped and shoved into bed.

Tracy pulls away from the embrace of these strangers. She recognizes only that the man is not her father. Backing away from the bed, Tracy reaches for her gun ...
